CBD Oil-Busting Myths

CBD Oil-Busting Myths

You know, originally, I was not going to do a blog post on CBD today, I was going to talk about the delicious Keto Balls I made at the Girls Party the other day. However, it has been brought to my attention via Facebook, that I think I “know it all” when it comes to CBD, all because a couple of girls are talking about it and I suggested a local store where she could purchase a quality product. I AM an alternative health blogger after all, and now I feel I have to defend myself, so today I’m going to put out some facts and bust some myths in an effort to not only prove I know what I’m talking about, but keep my friends and family safe by not putting inferior products into their bodies (which I guess these gals think I do.) The person in question suggested that what I was buying was NOT CBD Oil because you clearly cannot get a quality product with no additives and/or fillers from a local shop. What???? I’m here to tell you, she is wrong! She is obviously being brainwashed by the person she is talking to who only wants her to think her product is the be-all-end-all when it comes to CBD. Her product is HEMPWORX by the way, more on that later in this post.

Many companies have jumped on the CBD bandwagon in the last 1-2 years, it’s true, because of the growing popularity, the availability, the fact that it is legal, and they all have their marketing tricks. That is why it is important to always do your own research before you purchase and consume said products!

If you follow me, and I sincerely hope you do, you know that I switched from smoking to vaping about four years ago. After that discovery, I learned about CBD oil and it’s wonderful benefits and found that some brands made CBD oil you can vape, soon I was on a quest to find a quality vape oil with the best, lab tested, most pure, “Plant Only” product I could find. So, I did my research like any good blogger should. As a result, I not only found a few great online companies, I found one of those companies sells their product to local vape shops and I was in heaven! I got my hands on it asap and started enjoying the benefits immediately.

The first company I went with (which I have already blogged on in the past) was Blue Moon Hemp who I trust completely because they provide proof on their website of the rigorous testing they put their products through. You can even view the complete breakdown of what their CBD consists of under the resources tab for their COA-(Certificate of Analysis). They make all sorts of different products, tinctures, balms, gummies, pet products and vape oil, but I only wanted to try the vape oil at the time. I used that product, tried different flavors and slowly increased my dosage until I found the strength that worked for me, which is the preferred method. My favorite flavor is Flan btw, for those of you who care. Black Kat is also quite yummy and tastes like sweet cereal milk.

After a while, I noticed a local CBD Oil shop while driving through Colleyville. My husband and I went in and enjoyed her wide array of products, her friendly and helpful attitude, what she did not know, she provided us with the product’s website and info so we could do our own research. She had several different brands and products but again, I was only interested in what I could vape, (I have really limited myself, I have to admit) yet she gave us a sample of one of her balms and talked me into trying a tincture instead. It was ok, I didn’t really like the taste and I just prefer vaping, as it delivers the product the quickest into your system.

What Is CBD? What are it’s benefits? Can it get you High? Will you pass a drug test? How do you know what strength to use?

Let’s answer some of these questions and bust through some of the myths.

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol, a non-psychoactive Phytocannabinoid compound (one of hundreds) found in the hemp plant. It may be supplied as a oil containing just CBD as the active ingredient with no THC or terpenes in a variety of different ways. Because it has no THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) it will not “get you high.” There are other CBD products containing THC in small doses and those are still illegal as they are classed as Schedule 1 drugs that come from cannabis. Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species grown for industrial uses like fiber, paper, clothing, food, biofuel and more. Although cannabis as a drug and industrial hemp come from the same plant there are distinct strains with unique phytochemical compositions and uses. Hemp has lower concentrations of THC and higher concentrations of CBD decreasing or eliminating it’s psychoactive effects. Cannabinoids attach themselves to receptors in the body producing certain effects.

What are the benefits?

The benefits vary because everyone’s physical make up is different, yet the most reported benefits among users seem to be the alleviation of anxiety, the promotion of sleep, and some studies suggest it can help stop seizures. The well-documented case of Charlottes Web helping a young girl who was having hundreds of seizures a day has brought the industry all of this acceptance. Some also claim it reduces pain, and can even fight cancer. (I make no health claims since I am not a doctor or certified specialist) Each person has to judge for themselves after careful research, trial, and error. CBD can be an alternative to anti-inflammatory and/or pain meds which is another reason it has become so popular. It might be a promising treatment for opioid addiction and those who want to stop smoking. Many studies also claim it helps symptoms of Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Will you fail or pass a drug test?

Again, you must do your research to ensure you buy CBD Oil that contains only CBD and no THC. That means you have to look at the laboratory analysis which is provided if the company is reputable. Blue Moon Hemp says on it’s website that they go the extra step of removing ALL of the THC from their product thus rendering testing positive for THC impossible. That is why I completely trust it.

How do you know who much or how little to use? What strength should you start at, etc?

While you should consider many things when answering this question, know that everyone is different, therefore there’s really no set answer, it’s more of a trial and error kind of thing. All the research suggests that if you are a beginner, you should start with a low dose and work your way up, again, I am not a health practitioner and cannot give out medical advice. I can only provide information based on my own research and what I have discovered through my own use. I started with 100mg (per bottle) of vape oil (in other words, I would have to vape al day every day til the bottle was gone to get 100mgs) slowly moved up to where I was when I last did it (which has been a while since both of my tanks are broken) which was 300mg (per bottle). Talk to the store owners, they should be knowledgeable about the products they are selling. Doctors are not trained to cover CBD so they can only recommend, not prescribe CBD. Even the Mayo clinic bases it’s suggestions for dosage on scientific research, publications, traditional use, and expert opinions. Check out the website cbdoilreview.org for specific dosage information compiled by the Mayo Clinic for various illnesses.

Ok, you’ve seen my review of Blue Moon Hemp and you can certainly check them out yourselves but what about HEMPWORX?

From everything I was able to gather, HEMPWORX is a MLM mostly interested in cash flow, not creating the best CBD on the market. One website said it was “Ok at best, but in no way, shape or form, was the best CBD oil on the market.” According to their review, they are overpriced and not the highest quality. While not exactly a Ponzi scheme, their main goal is to get affiliates to promote their products.
This is unfortunate for the lady in question that started all the Facebook hubbub. She is a victim of this company’s shady business practices.

The bottom line is, if you want to know more about CBD, talk to an expert…there are supposedly CBD doctors out there that can guide you and there’s also people like my blogger friend Roxie (The Oily Guru) who know the ins and outs of everything to do with essential oils and aromatherapy. She also knows a thing or two about other oils as well, including CBD! Check out this post.

I am not an affiliate of any CBD Oil or company, although I may consider becoming one!

What To Do For Keto Flu And Too-da-loo!

What to do for keto flu is basically-get more salt and fat in your diet, even if you are not used to salting your food any more.

More on that later, right now I want to explain the too-da-loo part. I will be on vacation next week! I didn’t  think I would get to go, but my in-laws are letting me tag along. Yea!

I hope to learn how to schedule posts, if not, I will try to post in my down time. I tell you what, I have been studying, writing, and working so much, I am not sure that’s why my eyes hurt, or if I have developed allergies this year, or if I have a touch of keto flu myself.

I use pink Himalayan salt

Let’s dive in to what keto flu is, how you can prevent it, and what to do about it if you get it.

 What is Keto Flu?

Keto flu is what is happening inside your body as you restrict it from carbohydrates. See, your body is used to burning sugar for fuel which it was getting from all the carbs you used to eat.

Now, you’ve drastically stopped eating all that garbage and your body is confused. It wants them back, so you develop symptoms like these:

  • Dizziness
  • Brain fog
  • Irritability
  • Lack of focus & concentration
  • Muscle soreness
  • Confusion
  • Insomnia
  • Sugar cravings

I’m pretty sure that I go in and out of this keto flu myself, when I don’t strictly adhere to the diet, and also I think that may have happened to my dad when he stopped eating bread, pasta, and cereal.

When we behave, however, and follow the diet/lifestyle to the letter, it takes our bodies about two weeks to a month to get over the keto flu and become better adapted at burning fat for fuel. This is called ketosis.

Not everyone develops these symptoms, or maybe you only developed one or two. For me, I notice fatigue, and sugar cravings the most. But brain fog and lack of concentration also are a factor for me.

I should have converted to keto quickly and with less problems, and I did in the beginning, because I was already Paleo. So I had done the hard work of getting off the sugar already. But…

I still crave sweets. Even if those sweets are different now because I use stevia. And depending on what is happening around me, I may still be tempted by some carbs, like chips at a Mexican restaurant or alcohol when I want a skinny (or not) margarita.

So, basically, I am torturing my poor body, and worse, I am never going to lose those last few stubborn pounds going in and out of ketosis. Exercise is also a factor.

Sedentary people like me will find it more difficult than people who are able to exercise on a regular basis. Oh, sure, I get in the pool pretty often and try to work out a bit, but right now I’m still pretty restricted because of my knee and what I’m going through.

How Do We Remedy The Keto Flu?

  1. Drink more water. Add a pinch of salt to it. If you are 19 and older, try to drink 2.7 liters a day. “All it takes is a water loss of 2% of your body weight to impair physical performance and a 2.8% water loss to impair cognitive function”.
  2. Get more sodium, potassium, and magnesium in your diet. Loss of sodium and potassium can cause lightheadedness, fatigue, headaches, and cramping due to the lowering of insulin on the keto diet.
  3. Add more fat, especially MCT’s to your diet. Coconut oil, and pure MCT oil supply the necessary fats to provide your liver cells with acetyl-CoA that they can use to make ketones.

If you supplement with MCT oil from the start, you will likely prevent getting keto flu at all! That may explain why I did so well also, I have been in love with coconut oil (the source of MCT’s) for 3+ years! Seriously, I should buy it by the gallon!

  1. Go for a walk first thing in the morning-or some other form of low-intensity exercise. This will help your body increase fat burning and kickstart ketosis, especially if you make your walk last about an hour.

5. Get enough sleep! This is a tough one for me also. Even though most nights I’m in bed at ten, I read for a while, then because my husband gets up early, so do I. I can’t help it. My mind wakes up, my ears are sensitive and painful (I have Hyperacusis) and so it is almost impossible for me to go back to sleep.

I will tell you an easy way to get more MCT’s in your diet…bulletproof coffee! I know I’ve told you many times before, but for any newcomers to my blog, here is the skinny.

First you brew a nice, hot cup of coffee. If you have a Ninja blender, or a Magic Bullet, add your hot coffee plus 1 Tbsp of MCT or coconut oil (unrefined, 100% pure, organic please), 1 Tbsp of grass-fed butter (Kerrygold) and a dash of cinnamon (Ceylon is best), and a few drops of pure vanilla extract. If you use sweetener, add that now. I use this (Pyure brand stevia). Mix all that in you bullet or Ninja cup and pour into your favorite coffee mug. Ahhhhhh. Heaven in a cup.

I do this every. Single. Day. Which might explain why after 8 years, my Ninja has had enough. It has gone kaput. Time for a new one. Or maybe an upgrade. 🙂 I have been hearing so many great reviews about the Blendtec. We will see.

(Maybe Santa will get me one for Christmas 😉 )

Anyway, back to the subject of getting enough sleep. I swear, the nights I use my CBD oil (I vape it) are the nights I sleep the best. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep a night. Ha! I’m lucky if I get 6! Here’s a link for my CBD oil (I get no comp for this) Blue Moon Hemp

My brand of CBD vape oil in Black Cat flavor

For those of you who are curious about CBD and want to know more, here is a helpful guide: Blue Moon Hemp Review or another review here that isn’t Blue Moon, it just explains CBD oil and vaping it: VaVaVape

Sleep deprivation is real, people, and causes all kinds of problems. As a nation we do not get enough sleep, the evidence is everywhere. Distracted drivers causing accidents, workers falling asleep on the job, kids nodding off in class, you feel me?

  1. Try meditation. I personally have not tried this step, however that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to give it a shot. I am just giving you guys suggestions provided by the experts and keto gurus I have been following and studying.

Speaking of studying, some of you know I have been re-taking my marketing course by Michelle Schroeder-Gardner, and also a free 7-day blogging challenge by The Wherever Writer.

You may have noticed that all my posts now include the disclaimers and disclosures necessary for allowing my site to be monetized. This is so you guys are fully aware that as you click on links, I may make a small commission.

Just trying to be honest here, now that I am working from home again, I am trying to learn how to make my blog not only helpful for you, but give me some side income as well. Wish me luck and let me know how you feel about it.

I don’t want to lose followers because I might make a few cents from my blog. Honestly, can you blame me for trying? I really want to help you become the healthiest you can be, get you off unnecessary medications, and help you lose weight (if that’s a goal for you), but also, a girl needs to pay the bills too. (Or at least help her hubby pay the bills).

I hope you will help me help you and in the process, we all win. 🙂 With that being said, see my disclosure at the footer of my blog.

Y’all have a fabulous day, hit me up with any questions or comments, and see ya when I get back from the beach! Love ya, bye! 😎

Exciting News for a Monday!

Good morning everyone and how are you on this beautiful Monday morning?!

I have a bit of exciting news to share with you that I hope will be of some help to all of us! Friday morning my friend and fellow blogger, Roxy (The Oily Guru) texted me with some great news about how to possibly cure my tinnitus that I have been plagued with for quite some time.

She said the essential oil Helichrysum has been proven to stop the ringing in the ears when rubbed in and around the ear along with the mastoid bone behind the ear. For me, this is beyond exciting because I have been suffering from this condition for many years. As you may or may not know, I have written many posts, stories and essays on the subject here and on Medium and I am ready to have tinnitus eliminated from my life!

We had quite the discussion on and off for the whole day about prices, brands, and testimonials of people it helped, even with more than tinnitus. It is well known as an additive in skin creams but is very expensive so she was kind enough to share with me a blend that was less expensive, yet trusted that might work for me. I ordered it later that day (or was it Saturday?) and it will arrive TODAY! So excited! With the money I earned from jobs on Crowd Content, I was able to make my purchase from my PayPal account!  I got permission from Roxy to discuss all this with you here today and I’m happy to share with you the company I purchased my oil from was Hopewell Oils and it is a Helichrysum Substitute Blend. I can’t wait to get it, use it, and share my results with you all! In one of the testimonials I read, it even helped stop the nerve pain from shoulder problems! That would also help me!

As for Roxy, she herself sells Young Living and would love to show you her oils and how you could save money and get a % off all of your oils. Click on the link for The Oily Guru above and it will take you to her site!

Moving on, in other news, I went to a brand new wellness store in Colleyville with my hubby this weekend and he purchased for me a new CBD tincture she had in her shop from American Shaman. It is CBD & terpene rich hemp oil which I am using sublingually. I have been using half a dropper twice a day but may start using a bit less three times a day in place of the muscle relaxers and pain pills. She even gave me a small sample of a CBD enriched lotion to use on the painful muscle spasms in my shoulders and I have to say, it is helping enough to keep me from having to take the other drugs! She was very knowledgeable about all the brands she sells in the store and all of her products. The tincture I got is tropical punch flavored, so it’s not bad at all. One can use it sublingually, put it in water, or vape it. If you would like to check this brand of products, go to Nature’s Mercantile CBD Store.

Actually, after looking online at the products, the brand I bought seems to be the American Shaman CBD products store, so check that one out as well. Unless you are familiar with CBD oil and the different strengths, you will have to do some research like I did and talk to various shop owners to learn more about it.

I have been working on trying to work as normal as possible but around two or three every day I find I need to rest my head against something and give my neck a break. I am still getting physical therapy to the house (they didn’t dismiss me after all) and once I go back to the dr on Jan 26, they will probably start having me go to an outside facility for my PT. Still healing!!

So much yet to discuss! Ok, when I started this blog, I intended it to be a vehicle to help people, a place to share knowledge, recipes, my passion for essential oils, a place to share my creative writing-poetry, essays, short stories, flash fiction-and here lately, it seems to have become more like a personal diary/journal. I want this year’s direction to get back on track with sharing helpful info like it was in the beginning, but still in a casual,” talk about anything” format. I bought a brand new large (but smaller than last year) desk calendar so I can plan blog posts, keep track of other writing assignments and important dates. I will still try to fit in all the stuff I did last year, but my aim is to make a difference in someone’s life by helping you with news you can use, products, recipes, books, services or whatever you need to enrich your life and health.

Yesterday, I discovered that I had earned enough money on my Ibotta app that I could transfer it to my PayPal account. Now I have money again, yea! Remember, Ibotta is the grocery app for your mobile device that helps you get money back on groceries and other things you would normally buy anyway. There are three ways to earn, Send in Receipts, Link Loyalty Cards, or Mobile In-App Purchases. Just click the link and it will take you to a signup page where you can get all the juicy details.

Also, before Christmas, I redeemed my Shopkick gift card to purchase the gift for our White Elephant gift exchange! So it didn’t actually cost me a dime. Cool! And all I did to earn the gift card was to walk in stores and score kicks (points) or scan products and earn kicks, or make purchases at certain stores my card is linked to (like Walmart) and the kicks added up fast! You can do it too, just click on the link and download the Shopkick app, it will take you to a signup page and explain everything you need to know to start earning your kicks. I know it works because I have had the app more than five years and I have redeemed a $25 gift card every year!

Well, the old neck is strained and I should go do my exercises and think about resting it for a little bit. Yall have a wonderful day and if you have any questions about anything I have discussed here today, please ask away by leaving me a comment!

Three Benefits of Blue Moon Hemp CBD Vape Oil

Ever heard of CBD Oil or what it can do for you?

CBD Oil is an oil that is extracted from the stalks and seeds of industrial hemp plants. It is NOT psychoactive, it contains no THC but the plants are bred to have high concentrations of the naturally occurring Cannabinoid-Cannabidiol (CBDa).

It is considered a whole food with exceptional nutritional qualities in an easy to use form. It comes in vape oil for those who want to vape it, a tincture that can be added to food or beverages or used straight by dropping a few drops under the tongue, chewed in a CBD gum and even rubbed on the body as a salve.

From their website

I have been using it for about three months and I use Blue Moon Hemp company because they sell their product in a vapor shop right close to my neighborhood.

What it does for me:

  1. Helps me sleep
  2. Reduces my level of anxiety
  3. Stops pain

It can be ordered straight from the company by going to this link: Blue Moon Hemp and questions about the product can be found there or at this number- 844-425-8666

The vape oil comes in 4 strengths and several different flavors-I have only tried the Flan flavor and it is delicious.

Blue Moon Hemp has created a product that is affordable, quality, organic, non-GMO, and safe for everyone.  CBD Oil is just being discovered as a “wellness” supplement, helping people combat everything from depression to seizures. It will not make you “high”, you will not fail a drug test. You do not need a permit or a prescription to purchase it. Unlike medicinal marijuana, it is safe enough for anyone to use and perfectly legal in all 50 states.

I am lucky I can purchase locally and save the shipping costs but that shouldn’t stop you from trying the product of your choice. If you need a better night’s sleep, suffer from migraines, or just stay anxious all the time (and who doesn’t these days) you owe it to yourself to try CBD Oil in whatever form you choose.

Research shows that when you supplement your endocannabinoid system with non-toxic, non-habit-forming cannabinoids, you may create a healthier ECS and therefore a healthier you. Learn more about your ECS system at The National Institutes of Health. We have only recently discovered that we have our own cannabinoid system inside our bodies, this is groundbreaking stuff here!

There are so many ways and products that CBD Oil is a part of, yet I am only familiar with the product I use from Blue Moon Hemp for its quality and trusted performance.

CBD Oil-An Update

My preference for delicious flavor and results that deliver!

Ok, remember I promised you guys an update when I had some time to experience the CBD oil and let you know the ways it has benefitted me? Well, it’s been about 2 months now, I have moved up to the 200 mg bottle from Blue Moon Hemp and I still vape the flan flavor, since I already know and trust that it will be delicious. They tout it as “the healthy vape” and it really is! It is also true that what they say about your body letting you know when it’s time to move up to the next dose, I knew when I didn’t get the same results anymore, it was time.

Now, I don’t know about you all, but I have trouble sleeping. Not anymore. Since I started vaping the CBD oil, I have had better sleep than the days of my youth, when I was carefree and stupid. And the other thing I noticed is that I am not as anxious as I used to be. It’s like things just don’t annoy me to the same degree they once did, I’m more chill about traffic, my kid’s problems and even my husband’s snoring doesn’t bother me- I hardly have to sleep in the guest room anymore!!  One thing it can’t fix is the knot in my shoulder when I hunch over the computer too long, I’ll gladly go get a massage to remedy that when I can afford one though.

In the beginning, I would mix the CBD oil with my other vape juice, now I vape it straight. I find I don’t need as much, yet if I’m also enjoying a beverage (the adult kind) I tend to reach for it a little more, kind of like when I used to smoke. All of the research I’ve read says it also helps with brain function and stops seizures (although thankfully I’m not plagued by those) and a plethora of other things that benefit the same symptoms people smoke medical marijuana for. You do not have to be scared of CBD oil however, there is no THC ( the compound that gets you high), it does not alter your way of thinking or cause a stoned feeling. It is legal in all states and I actually get mine from a local vapor shop. It is expensive, yet lasts a long time if you don’t overuse it.

My e-cig set up. Same thing I used for vaping e-juice.

The advice that I took was some that I found on most every CBD oil website, start at the lowest dose and work your way up. I started with the 100 mg bottle and am now working on my 200 mg one. I go through about a dropper full a day and it still lasts me about a month. It is also available in tinctures, edibles and other ways, I just prefer vaping it since I was already doing that anyway. Since I don’t need to do it as much as I used to vape regular “juice”, I don’t find myself freaking out that I can’t vape at most restaurants, or maybe that’s just me in my newly chilled state. Whatever, I am good waiting until I get in the car or back home.

If yall have any questions, suggestions or just want to talk about it, leave a comment in the box. For now, I’ll sign off…I have a hot date with a silver fox!
