It’s M’ Birthday-Made It Another Year!

Afternoon everyone and how are you on this sunny but coolish day? It is my birthday and I’m happy to say I woke up today, so I’m on the plus side! My dad, brother and oldest son came over for dinner yesterday and brought me presents! That was soooo nice! Sean bought me a nice, big Whole 30 cookbook (that is not the plan I’m on but will come in very handy still), my bro bought me a beautiful, fuchsia colored bougainvillea, and a lovely hummingbird feeder (which I’ve really been wanting) with lizards on it, and a beautiful new margarita glass to add to my “collection”! Dad gave me a nice card with cold, hard cash in it, boy do I have plans for that!  (subject to change, of course)

My new cookbook-thanks to Sean

Unfortunately, before they came over, I had spent the better part of an hour trying to find the plugin ADD THIS so I could put a FOLLOW button on my site. I finally found it and followed the instructions (or so I thought) but still no follow button. I guess I may have to break down and get professional help. 🙁    I may try again this afternoon if I have time, there is only so many hours in a day though and mine are filling up fast.

On the good side, my eye dr appt went well. He put me back in my more comfortable contact(s) and gave me some samples to tide me over.

So, one more time, I have a new domain to go along with my new name and here it is:  https://kimmy1563.com    Of course, my new name is Keto For Beginners,  and I will still be sharing all kinds of useful tips, recipes, and everything having to do with alternative health. No subject is off limits though, so we may cover everything from writing to music, whatever you all want to talk about.

I’m sorry to have to share some sad news today. Stephanie (my friend I am a caregiver to) lost her momma yesterday to complications of COPD and multiple organ failure. Please keep her and the family in your prayers, she needs them now more than ever. Thank you in advance.

Day 312-Motivational Monday-Are You A Worry Wart?

Morning, folks! Are you guys guilty of worrying? I know I have been, especially this weekend. My son was traveling from Ohio to Texas via Greyhound…need I say more?

As a believer, we are not supposed to worry, yes I know that is hard. We have to remember that we are not in control, God is. Which brings me to my quote for the day.

Part of my worrying comes from just being a mother, part has to do with my status as a control freak…I get to thinking I can handle it all, whatever is thrown at me. We can’t and shouldn’t try to do it all ourselves. We need to trust that God knows our plan and turn whatever is bothering us over to him.

Worrying leads to stress, which can make you sick. Just try to stop worrying and start praying, God knows what is in your heart and on your mind.

Day 259-Motivational Monday-How to Be Grateful

Good morning everyone, how is everyone this beautiful Monday morning?

As the news continues to scare us with the prospect of war and more bleak possibilities going forward,I was struck by this motivational quote I found on Pinterest this morning.

What if indeed?!! This is why we need to pray every day, because what if we forgot someone or something in our daily prayer? I want to wake up to all my friends and family-don’t you?

If this doesn’t give you the motivation to be grateful for everything you have in your life, I don’t know what will!

Now I have to share a funny story with you because, well…I’m honest to a fault sometimes (which gets me laughed at a lot!)

Ever have one of those aha moments and then felt like a complete idiot when you realized how easy something was? That was me last night after discovering how to get my posts onto Pinterest was as easy as pinning it directly from the post itself!! What a revelation and a V8 moment that made me want to slap my own forehead! Doh! I could have been doing this all along, now here I am 259 days into my year long blogging project with just a few pins to show for it. Why is that important you might ask? Well, I could have been getting my blog out to more people for one thing, thereby increasing my exposure, and traffic.

See, I have a board for the blog on Pinterest, along with many other boards, and pinning for the others is easy. Yet every time I tried to figure out how to get my “important” posts onto my board, I would give up in frustration. Then last night, I came across a pin from Think Creative Collective about how to use Tailwind to schedule blog posts on Pinterest. I never got that far because I saw the one thing that made me go aha! I then quickly went straight to my blog and pinned the entire series I wrote,  Angels of Arvada, so they would all be in one, easy to find area. Now I know what I need to do, and it is so easy, it won’t take me long-so if you see my board on Pinterest suddenly getting full, you’ll know why!

The next thing I need to do is go read the rest of the post and see how to use Tailwind to schedule my pins so this doesn’t happen again. Then I’ll be able to answer your questions if you have any, I don’t know how many of you use Pinterest, but it’s a great marketing tool. It is also a great place to make a to-do list! I find all kinds of great ideas on Pinterest.

I hope I have sparked your imagination and given you some motivation to change something in your business, some inspiration to be grateful for the things we have and a reason to pray every day for those we love and hold dear and want to see tomorrow! Speaking of tomorrow, join me then for MET (My Essay Tuesday) and I’ll see you later from a very busy patio!

Day 203-Motivational Monday

Good morning everyone, I hope this prayer starts you out on the right foot today, just as it did me.

It comes from a post my sweet cousin Rosie put on Facebook yesterday, it was just the thing I needed to hear this morning and was accompanied by this prayer:

Instead of focusing on the hurdles ahead of you in the coming week,
Focus on Him beside you,
Instead of depending on your plan for tomorrow,
depend on His power for this very moment.
Instead of being tempted to give up, or give into fear,
give thanks — this gives Him glory.
Instead of trying to do it all
Simply let Him be your all.

Be with those aching tonight in ways no one knows, Lord.
Let the weary who need to hear You, feel it tonight in the tiredness of their bones — the loneliness falling straight away
and the gentle strength of comforting arms drawing them up and into that resting embrace of grace.
In the name of the only One who has ever loved us to death & back to the realest & forever life, In Gentle Jesus’ name,
Amen.

I hope this helps you deal with whatever you are struggling with as much as it did me. Have a good Monday, I will see you all again tomorrow.

Day 57- What If…. Week-

Today I decided to turn back to creative writing this week because of a seemingly brilliant idea that came to me just as I was falling asleep last night, I thought of having a week of scenario type stories focusing on What if…..

I had a lovely story almost written in my mind, then I fell asleep-and you know what they say. That is a disaster, now I can’t recall the particular story except the very beginning, or what my point was, or the direction it was supposed to go. Lesson here, always keep a notepad by the bed to jot these ideas down, but what if my husband is asleep? I don’t want to wake him once the light is off, so some ideas that I had to remedy this was to use a lighted pen, or a small flashlight, or at the very least, I could get up and take my iPad into the other room.

Why I can’t fall asleep on Sunday nights is a mystery to me, maybe because the weekend is over and I know I’m working Monday, so I start mentally preparing myself with to-do lists or writing projects come unbidden into my head. I had 3-4 of these such projects back to back racing in my mind last night, now I can only recall bits and pieces.

But now I have an idea.

After reading the word prompt on Medium for this week’s edition of The Weekly Knob, I am inspired to write a little on the subject of  Light up Medium, Light up the World. The word prompt is “candle”,  while I can’t write the same story in the both places, I can write a “what if” story. So here goes:

What if we, as a nation, lit a candle every day at a certain time in solidarity to end the madness and bring some positivity and light into the world? What do you think it would change? Would we be so busy lighting candles and thinking of our individual reasons for doing so that we would forget the hate and negativity going on in all the dark corners of the world today? Would we for once, get caught up in the action of doing something as a group to bring happiness and peace to the world that we ignore all the ignorant and inane things in the mainstream media today? What if we also said a prayer for peace and unity every time we lit that candle? Would the nation be healed? Maybe not, maybe so, I bet we’d have more of a fighting chance by coming together in this action than not. I say we try it for a week. I say, if the nation lit a candle and prayed everyday for a week, say, at 7:11, the healing would begin. What if we shared the news we were doing it, like we do every other insignificant thing we plaster all over Facebook and Instagram and Twitter? Spread the news, make it happen. Don’t you want the madness to stop? All the shootings, the press about the shootings, the riots, the protests. Light. It. Up. Light the candle, say a prayer and spread the word. I’m going to, because I really do. I want it to end and light to come back into the world. The light of Jesus. The light of God. The light of peace. I pray you do too.
